    Misty’s “More Flowers” Forecast for 2021

    Happy New Year!  Not the best picture but this is me saying no more 2020…LOL Seriously though, I predict it’s gonna be an even bigger year for buying local anything, including flowers.  I also see more of the good that was created last year carry over to 2021. The chaos aka “The great pause” has created a space of opportunity for creatives to go all out, to make millions, if not billions. Have a book idea, product, or service?     Like many, the intensity of the last year has left me feeling a bit like I have been pushed through the per viable eye of the needle not quite on the other side, scratching my head wondering when this place of strange I’m in will ever subside.  I have been running and pushing my flower farm forward with an urgency, a dire NEED to fill my heart full so full of beauty the nagging lingering grief over my son would be silenced to barely a whisper for the last 7 years.     When I first started farming I was only going to grow a few sunflowers but soon realized a “little bit” simply wasn’t an option.  There are 70 different species “cultivars” of these sunny beauties ranging from the mammoth huge to daisy sizes in colors of the classic yellow, oranges, reds, plums, and two-toned. A sunflower for everyone. Each year we grow some of the standard easy to design with varieties from the Procut series and a few tests. The majority of them do very well here in Alaska.
