Misty’s “More Flowers” Forecast for 2021
Happy New Year!
Not the best picture but this is me saying no more 2020…LOL
Seriously though, I predict it’s gonna be an even bigger year for buying local anything, including flowers.
I also see more of the good that was created last year carry over to 2021.
The chaos aka “The great pause” has created a space of opportunity for creatives to go all out, to make millions, if not billions. Have a book idea, product, or service? Now’s the time to seize the day.
Further, I believe we will want more of anything that makes us feel less stressed, uplifted yet grounded, and “normal.” This means beautifying our work and living spaces with flowers. Bringing nature indoors will be more important than ever.
Think Pantone 2021 “colors’ of the year. -Sunny “Yes” Yellow and Natural Grounding Gray.
More of all the things is what I see!
More home and garden decor…
Textiles and fun ways to represent nature both in and out of our homes are what we will be attracted to.
More of being outside…
We will be taking to the outdoors in higher numbers. Perfect for on-farm small outdoor events and farm stand shopping. This year more than ever we are craving hands-on experiences because we’ve had enough of being in lockdown.
More of the three C.C.C’s…
Color, Connection, and Celebration will be what we’ll desire most.
More DIY baby!
Even with lumber prices at a high and paint shelves becoming bare. We will be scrounging, repurposing, and resurfacing like mad. Here on the farm, we are adding a new flower design studio and processing building right next to our existing Flower Stand.
More home gardening, please…
I’m not sure about other states but for Alaska, we only have 3 days worth of food stocked in the stores at any one time. If the barges stopped or the semi-trucks quit running means scary business for us.
I predict another year where the number of gardens increases even more. I know I won’t be the only one be digging in the dirt and turning my thumbs green.
Food won’t be the only thing people will be growing either. You’ll see blooms being added for some additional color and beauty. Our kids will be involved as well.
More Preservation…
Life can change in an instant. For this very reason, we are going to want to capture the present to remember the good times for the future.
A greater interest in dried flowers…
Not in an 80’s under-glass sort of way either. I’m talking about new innovative ways to display outdoor texture in our homes and offices all year long.
These Dahlias and sweetpeas were dried with silica.
More Investing In Ourselves…
More and more people will be investing in their futures, through online education and other convenient ways to absorb information, like books.
More nature on the inside too…
Need I say more?
Yes,
2020 taught us that we can be like a sunflower and face each other in stormy times even if it’s on Zoom.
Good thing we have MORE FLOWERS to brighten our worlds!
