Before I die I want to…
“Dream as you’ll live forever, LIVE as if you’ll die tomorrow“
Hi There,
I’ve been interested in the subject of death since I was a little girl, starting with the deaths of two of my aunts. One from a battle with bone cancer and the other suddenly in a 3-wheeler accident. Then fast forward to my son’s diagnosis with a terminal Muscular Dystrophy when he was 4. I have countless books on the subject, watched videos, talked to true mediums and read blogs. Witnessing my son’s passing has only strengthened my passion for living and yes dieing well.
Even though grieving him has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do, the fascination with our mortality hasn’t left me. After all death is what each and everyone of us face. It is also the least talked about subject which I also find fascinating. Mostly because I spent 17 years providing the best life for my son I could, knowing he would die. He and I talked about death and dieing all the time. Not in a morbid, gory movie sort of way, but living the best we could now and if cremation or burial is what we wanted. These conversation, sometimes during a walk or sometimes in the wee hours of the night were sacred to me. I stored his wants in my brain for when his day came.
My journey with my son and losing others close to me I’ve learned you can’t be fascinated with death if you aren’t fascinated with life and more importantly how to live a high quality life. This lesson is the biggest lesson I’m still learning. But a lesson I believe we should be very proactive and on purpose about. Not just in the end of life planning but in the NOW.
This day could be your last day, so spend it wisely relishing in all the wonder and beauty life is. Be more kind and mindful of those around you. Forgive the trespassers of your life but more importantly LOVE BIGGER!
Now I have a question for you. “Before I die I want to________________.” Put your response in the comments below.
