All Dahlia'd Up Flower Farm Views

Field Crew Team Lead

May-mid/Oct.

Monday-Friday and some Saturdays. 35-40 hours a week, sometimes less and maybe more at peak season. Flexibility is key.

Monday, Wed. Friday 8am-3 or 4. If real busy may be asked to stay late

Tue & Thurs. 9am-3pm or 4. If real busy may be asked to stay late

Our flower season runs beginning of May through early-mid October. Depends on first hard frost dates.

Flower farming can be hard work despite all the pretty pictures. It’s repetitive with quite a bit of walking and requires attention to detail.  Here on our farm typically what you start the day with isn’t the work you finished with. Different from day to day. No being bored here.

Keep in mind comfort for yourself while weeding, flower harvesting, hauling buckets of blooms, washing buckets and bouquet designing, even on cold or rainy days!  You will be dirty, wet, cold and tired at times. On bright sunny days it can get hot. Dress in or have layers. Wear good work shoes/boots, Rain Gear and Boots is recommended as well as good fitting work gloves. Bring sunscreen and bug spray.

**Being able to use small hand and yard tools, like flower snips, rakes and shovels is necessary.

Also be aware of the fact that we sometimes end up weeding couple hours on our knees – those with significant knee injuries or pain might have a difficult time.  There is no good way to efficiently do the work we do without being on our knees while we hand weed and during some farm clean-up.

However, I love having fun and I believe in balancing hard work with the fun during what we call “flower days” of working with and being guided by Misty creating bouquets for the flower stand.

As a team lead you’ll be working directly with me and as my assistant in the sense of keeping a mental note of things I tell you and  that need to be done or will need to be done at a later date. Like bucket washing, studio clean-up, compost dumping, weeding or a part of the yard that need attention since we host several farm events and dinners throughout the summer. We do have standard of operation procedures to follow.

We have one other part-time newer team member you’ll be working with. However be prepared to be working by yourself at times.

The farm is also our home so you’ll see my husband, my daughter, granddog Tulip, Flora the black cat and other family members around.

We are looking for someone who

  • Is a trustworthy, hardworking individual.
  • Is self-motivated, able to move quickly and efficiently complete the task at hand.
  • Is committed to doing good work with a good attitude.
